These things tend to be bits that I’ve picked up during the day in work from general chatter that has caught my attention, from internal emails or from the news that I’ve read on the web. So as you could imagine the mind tends to wonder thinking some strange things that really have no interest to me.

One of these pondering’s was after the latest Emergency Budget where fuel has not been given a tax increase, which to me is VERY surprising. But I was thinking that has this government realised that it cannot base it’s main income on fuel duty due to the fact that the oil reserves on this planet are thinning out rather quickly and once it’s gone they will loose all that income.

Then there was that VAT was being increased as of the 01/01/2011 to 20%. So inflation next year starts at 2.5% adding onto that rough inflation of 3% that’s over a 5% inflation for next year where wages are definatly not going to be able to keep up with. Already inflation is going up faster than the average wage, which is going to affect those on the lower wage scales quite badly.

One thing that really caught my eye was a announcement by ViginMedia that they are scaling up their network to support 400Mb broadband connections and are looking to 100Mb connections available by the end of this year. I’ve not yet got myself the 50Mb connection they provide currently, the 20Mb connection seems to do me justice and covers my current needs. If I do get a remote working job where I can work from home then the faster connections will deff be on the cards. These speeds though allow for cloud computing. They are also looking at finally expanding their network using over head cables, reminds me back in the late 80′s / early 90′s when cable(Pipe in them days and yes I was young then but i do remember) was over head. Which for me is a good thing to see as currently I have said that I will only live in a cabled area as ADSL doesn’t offer the reliability that I have seen with cable.

Also in this announcement (BBC News) they talk of cloud computing where all of your stuff is stored somewhere online rather than locally on your PC, which yes will work for business’s as the need for desktop computers will no longer be needed keeping IT costs down, but for the home user, ok yes it will also keep the costs down, all of your personal information being stored on a server that you cannot physically touch to me is a bit daunting. I do have a Google Docs account but  the only thing I’ve got in there is my CV and don’t really use it.

If someone was to get hold of my account login details and I’d used it to the full with the documents that I keep stored on my  home PC, well they’d probably be able to clone me without any hindrance. Also what would happen if somehow the company you are using for your cloud goes bust over night and everything shuts down, there is a chance then that all your documents, pictures and videos could be lost forever.

Well this is probably the biggest online article I’ve written to date, not that I have written many in the past, hopefully there will be more to follow not that this is interesting in the slightest really well it is titled too many thoughts….

I’m currently working on a IT helpdesk which don’t get me wrong isn’t a bad job but doesn’t challenge me enough to excel myself.

So from today I’m going to push forward in learning Java and try together into some software development.

I already have an idea for a project for my first application just got to get to the level needed to be able to write it. Watch this blog for updates.

As for idleweb.eu its still work in progress but it is coming along nicely.

So what I come up with was a website full of walk through tutorials on the most common of tasks home and small business users would do. Also the site will include common problems users come up against on a daily basis.

I was thinking of a name for the site and in he end come up with IdleWeb. I then checked for the domain name idleweb.com but this was taken by a advert holding page, so I did a check on all top level domains and the one that caught my eye was idleweb.eu, so here we have it: www.idleweb.eu

As you can see there’s only a coming soon screen on there but I am working on the back-end as you read this. Once the back-end is done it’s on the content creation which will take time, this leads me onto the next thing.

I am now looking for other techs out there to help out and create content for the site so if your interested in helping out drop me a line.

We got to the club around 11:30am and quite surprisingly it was dry so the day was looking to be a good one. Along with the dryness the wind was pretty calm for the club.

Well things got off to a good start until we hit the uphill targets which was a bit of a struggle for a couple of us due to the extra pounds being carried on the front lol. We then got onto the windy bit which really couldn’t make it’s mind up and the pellets started going everywhere.

At the end of the course I was surprised by my score of 19 and very happy with myself

Anyway at the end of the shoot we headed out to get back early so we missed the results. Later on my phone goes off telling me I have new a e-mail and contained within this to my much surprise I take second place in C grade.

So the day turned out to be pretty good. Stroll on the next shoot time to pull all stops out and get me a first place

I find that most of them have never fired an air gun and have no ideas on how big the sport is now coming. The only time you every see shooting on TV it’s cause of something bad that’s happened. In th UK more people are killed from being hit by a car or even taking drugs.

Shooting is an Olympic sport and is highly disciplined. I’ve found that youngsters (Myself included when I was classed as a youngster lol) are a lot less likely to get into trouble in a serious way due to the discipline taught with the safe handling of firearms including air guns.

The reason for this post is that I’m completely and utterly FED UP of the public opinion towards guns. Why can’t the press cover the sport and show the good side.

This really does stress the urge to move to a more secure browser. I highly recommend Firefox which again does have it’s bugs just like EVERY piece of software known to mankind but is alot more secure as it does not allow you to run activex components which can contain very harmful code.

There are quite a few alternatives available the majority being completely free. A good list of available browser can be found a the following link:

The bit that really got my sides going was this:

Well I’ve never heard them called tha before and i’ve heard a few unusual descriptions.

Do i find a project with someone to help me along the way or think of my own project and just learn as i develop it. I have been thinking more to the later as I will learn my own way of coding rather than learning someone else’s. Now the big question what can I do as a project and what language to go with.
